Communication specialist
Trickle Up Mali, Sevare, Mali

Disabled people in the towns and villages of Mali are amongst the poorest of the poor, the majority surviving by begging, or complete dependency on their family. Despite a theoretical commitment to advancing the rights of disabled people, so far there are few initiatives or activities promoted by the Malian government, and very limited opportunity for disabled people themselves to participate in lobbying and advocacy. Based at Trickle Up’s Mali’s office in Sevare, you will work with disabled peoples’ associations to build their capacities in communication so that they may have a stronger voice in family and community life, as well as supporting communications within Trickle Up and with its other partner organisations in the Mopti region. You will develop strategy, provide training, accompany the disabled peoples’ associations in their activities, and support their lobbying and campaigning. Your should have qualifications and experience related to communications, including events and media experience (radio/TV). ideally in an African context, a highly flexible, adaptable and culturally sensitive approach, a demonstrable commitment to working with disabled people, and good French. (REF: MAL/35)
