Sub: Resource materials for a Block panchayat Disability resource centre in Kerala, India Sir, Nemom Block Panchayat,in Trivandrum, Kerala State , India had decided to implement a model project to support a CBR program for the holistic development of physically and mentally challenged persons and their families in 7 grama panchayats with the support of NGO called Future India Foundation. The name of the project is called SAMPOORNA..The project covers the area where there are around 50000 families and the population comes around 2.5 lakhs . From the survey we could collect details of 5000 persons with visible disability. The project includes early intervention, special schools for the needy in rural areas, inclusive education initiatives, home school program for the severely disabled ,skill and vocational training for youth with special needs, special social protection initiatives for women with disabilities, formation and rejuvenation of Special Self Help Groups of disabled , micro enterprises for disabled, Home care program for the chronic disabled and aged with special needs. As the part of this project we are networking with institutions and organizations which can support with ideas, resources and campaign and educational materials to propagate the concept of CBR program . We are looking forward to get your feedback .We will be thakful if we can get any kind of support to build a more inclusive society .We are interested in having partnership in inclusive education inititatives.
